Winter trip to Straja, Romania

I did not had too much fun during the job search, but I finally got some time and I went to the mountains, quite close to home: Straja. This is a sky resort close to the Straja peak, in an mining region. The mines are slowing down and there might be some hope that the tourism will replace them, if the people are smart, which unfortunately is not always true. On the return trip we saw the Lainici monastery, on the Jiu Valley: Lainici Monastery and the Valley of Jiu. Enjoy the pictures!
Nu am avut prea multă distracţie în timpul căutării de lucru, dar în final am avut ceva timp şi am mers la munte, destul de aproape de casă: Straja. Aceasta este o staţiune de schi aproape de vârful Straja, intr-o regiune minieră. Minele au încetinit producţiaşi poate fi ceva speranţă că turismul le va înlocui, dacă oamenii sunt deştepţi, ceea ce nu este întotdeauna adevărat. În drumul de întoarcere am văzut Mânăstirea Lainici, pe valea Jiului: Lainici Monastery and the valley of Jiu. Bucuraţi-vă de poze!

Autumn in Lupoaia forest, Romania

It was a beautiful and sunny day last Sunday and i decided to have a walk in the forest. The forest is close to my fathers village. It is not a famous place, but it is beautifull. Just take a look: Lupoaia Forest.
A fost o zi frumoasă şi însorită duminica trecută şi am decis sa fac o plimbare în pădure. Pădurea e aproape de satul tatălui meu. Nu este un loc faimos, dar este frumos. Arunca-ţi  o privire: Lupoaia Forest.

Târgu-Jiu, Romania

This is my home city, Târgu-Jiu. It is an old city, at least 700 years old. The most known features of the city are the sculptures of Constantin Brancusi The Gate of the Kiss , The Table of Silence and the Infinite Column. Here are the pictures: Tirgu-Jiu. I added some more pictures after a while, last of them being taken night with the Christmas lights. In my trip home in 2010 I made some pictures of festival of artisans: Festival of the Artisans.
 Acesta este oraşul meu natal, Târgu-Jiu. Este un oraş vechi de cel puţin 700 de ani. Cele mai cunoscute monumente al oraşului sunt sculpturile lui Constantin Brâncuşi Poarta Sărutului, Masa Tăcerii şi Coloana Infinitului. Aici sunt pozele: Tirgu-Jiu. Am adăugat câteva poze după un timp, ultimele din ele fiind luate noaptea cu luminile de Crăciun. În calătoria acasa din 2010 am făcut nişte poze de la festivalul artizanilor: Festival of the Artisans.

Dusseldorf, Germany

Dusseldorf is one of my favorite German cities. Like Koln is also on the Rhine, but in general the modern architecture is more present(or the old one is more absent). The two things I loved about the city are the park and the big tower. The park is really a paradise for birds, and you can see allot of species and the view from the top of the tower is beautiful. Dusseldorf este unul din oraşele mele favorite în Germania. Ca şi Koln este de asemenea pe Rin, dar în general arhitectura modernă este mai prezentă(sau cea veche este mai absentă). Cele două lucruri pe care le-am iubit despre oraş sunt parcul şi turnul mare. Parcul este un adevărat paradis pentru păsări, şi poţi vedea multe specii, iar priveliştea de pe turn este frumoasă. Lille, France

I visited Lille in 2004, for a NMR conference. It was during Braderie, a special celebration in the city, when most of the restaurants sell clams. In one of the pictures you can see o huge pile of them next to the restaurant. Anyway the city is beautiful: Lille and it has a very interesting Zoo: Lille Zoo.

Am vizitat Lille în 2004, pentru o conferinţă RMN. A fost în timpul Braderie, o celebrare specială în oraş, cind cele mai multe restaurante vând moluşte. Într-o poză puteţi vedea o grămadă uriaşă de scoici lângă restaurant. Oricum oraşul este frumos: Lille şi are o grădină zoologică foarte interesantă: Lille Zoo.

Aachen, Germany

Aachen, Germany at the border with Netherlands and Belgium. I stayed there for 3 years and three months. It may seem strange but i just have few pictures: Aachen. It is a nice city, not an extraordinary one, but I liked to live there. Some more pictures from the Aachen old city hall (now a museum): Aachen city hall.

Aachen, Germania, la graniţa cu Belgia şi Olanda. Am stat aici timp de 3 ani şi 3 luni. Poate părea ciudat dar am doar câteva poze: Aachen. A short trip home, Romania

It was indeed a short trip home to Romania, and i did had the opportunity to make allot of traveling. It was just few hours with the car, and i have some pictures from my parents house from countryside in Ciuperceni, and some unique geological formation in Ponoare: Ponoare.
 This was once the opening of a cave, now is just a natural bridge, God's Bridge how is presently known in the region. The next pictures are from Valea Mare (Big Valley) where we ca see an artificial lake, and the mountains around: Valea Mare.

A fost întradevăr o călătorie scurtă în România şi am avut ocazia să fac ceva călătorii. Au fost doar câteva ore cu maşina şi am facut nişte poze din casa părinţilor mei la tară în Ciuperceni impreuna cu ceva formaţii geologice unice în Ponoare: Ponoare.
Aceasta a fost odată intrarea unei peşteri iar acum este doar un pod natural, cunoscut  în regiune ca şi Podul lui Dumnezeu. Următoarele poze sunt din Valea Mare unde putem vedea un lac de acumulare şi munţii din jur: Valea Mare.

Diving in Kullen, Sweden

        I finally went diving with a friend in Kullen Ablahamn, the natural reservation of Kullabergs. We were five people, ready to enjoy a beautiful summer day so rare in Sweden, and for this more precious. Kullabergs park is situated in a peninsula on the West coast, a bit more north of Helsinborg. As far I could see, the park is beautiful, but the main thing today was the diving. It was my first dive outside Red Sea, and i was a bit worried about how the wet-suit will work but it was ok. The visibility was worse, just about 5m. We could see some sea stars, fish, even a crab and some aquatic plants. We reached 27.5 m depth on the deepest point, the deepest point I ever reached. The weather was perfect, and the only problem was the access on some very slippery rocks. Anyway, these are the pictures: Kullen Diving.

În sfârşit am mers la scufundări cu un prieten în Kullen Ablahamn, în rezervaţia naturală Kullabergs. Am fost cinci persoane, gata să ne bucurăm de o zi frumoasă de vară, care este atât de rară în Suedia şi pentru asta cu atât mai preţioasă. Rezervaţia Kullabergs este situată pe o peninsulă pe coasta de vest, un pic mai în nord de Helsinborg. Atât cât am putut să observ rezervaţia este frumoasă, dar obiectivul principal în această zi era scufundarea. Era prima mea scufundare în afara de Marea Roşie şi am fost un pic îngrijorat despre cum o să funcţioneze costumul de scafandru, dar a fost bine. Vizibilitatea a fost mai proastă, abia 5 metri. Am putut să vedem ceva stele de mare, peşte, chiar şi un crab şi nişte plante acvatice. Am ajuns la 27.5 m adâncime în partea cea mai profundă la care am ajuns vreodată. Oricum, aici sunt nişte poze: Kullen Diving.

Lund, Sweden

It seems that i forgot to say anything about Lund, the city where I live now. Universitary city, the oldest in Sweden it is a very nice place to live in. You can take a peek here: Lund.
Se pare că am uitat să spun ceva despre Lund, oraşul în care trăiesc acum.Oraş universitar, cel mai vechi din Suedia este un loc foarte bun de locuit. Puteţi arunca o privire aici: Lund.

Road trip to Ale Stenar, Sweden

They were once 9 people which have decided to make a trip to Ale Stenar for Midsummer. Ale Stenar has a very interesting monument similar with Stonehange. There are many stones, with a weigth of several tons, which are arranged like an ancient viking boat with a length of 60m. In midsummer's day,  the sun set in the line with the length of the boat. We managed to arrive there at 4 20 in the morning, just in time to watch the sunrise and get really wet by a short ice-storm: Sunrise Ale Stenar. We continued our trip along the east coast of Skane and we went to a beach, to enjoy the brief moment of sunshine: Malarhusen. Next stop was Simrishamn, were we stopped just for a moment: Simrishamn. The medieval castle from Glimmingehus: Glimmingehus was next on our list. My favorite part of the trip was the national park of Stenshuvud, were we had a picnic at the beach,  played some volleyball and we made a short hiking: Stenshuvud. We returned to Ale Stenar to watch the sunset. At the moment when we arrived there was a musical group singing I guess some christian music, then we saw some people with parachutes flying in the sunset, and some incantation from a druidic group. Midsummer, Sweden

Middle of the summer is an important date in Swedish calendar. It is celebrated on 21 of June, with picnics traditional food (like herrings prepared in a special way) and drinks. Before midsummer there is the day before, 20 of June, when they build a pole adorned with green branches and flowers, and dance around it: Midsummer.
Mijlocul verii este o dată importantă în calendarul suedez. Este celebrat în 21 iunie, cu picnicuri cu mâncare tradiţională (ca heringi preparaţi în mod special) şi băuturi. Înainte de mijlocul verii există p zi specială, 20 iunie, unde construiesc un stâlp împodobit  cu ramuri verzi şi flori, şi danseaza imprejurul lui: Midsummer.

Lomma, Sweden

Lomma is a beach pretty close to Lund. It is a small village there, not very spectacular, but pretty nice : Lomma. It used to be on flickr, but I had to change for google when they got greedy. Have fun!

Lomma este o plajă destul de aproape de Lund. Este un sat mic acolo, nu foarte spectaculos, dar destul de fain: Lomma. Era pe flickr, dar a trebuit sa schimb pe google atunci cand au devenit lacomi. Distraţi-va!

Dalby Stenbrott, Sweden

I love lakes. I guess it goes back to the childhood fairytales, but i always thougth about lakes like a magical place. This lake is just some water which is flooded and old quarry, but i really like what i saw there. I hope you can share my pleasure when you see this pictures: Dalby Stenbrott.
Îmi plac lacurile. Bănuiesc ca vine de la povestirile din copilărie, dar m-am gândit întotdeauna despre lacuri ca un loc magic. Acest lac este doar apă care a inundat o carieră veche, dar îmi place foarte mult ce am văzut acolo. Sper ca puteţi sa-mi împărtaşiţi placerea când vedeţi pozele: Dalby Stenbrott.

Södarasen national park, Sweden

Camping trip to Södarasen, the Great Canyon of Skane. Well not so big and actually not a canyon. Still is a great place to visit, and a good place for camping, despite the mousquitos. You can admire his beauty in the folowing link: Sodarasen.
Călătorie cu cortul la  Södarasen, marele canion din Skane. De fapt, nu atât de mare şi nu un canion. Totuşi este un loc fantastic de vizitat şi un loc bun pentru camping în ciuda tânţarilor. Îi puteţi admira frumuseţea în următorul link: Sodarasen.

Landskrona and Ven island, Sweden

Together with few of my friends I have made a trip to Lanskrona. From there we can just take a trip with the ferry to Ven island: Landskrona and Ven Island. It was a beautiful place with some amazing views, and I intend to go back there soon.

Împreuna cu câtiva din prietenii mei am făcut o calătorie la Landskrona: Landskrona and Ven Island. De aici putem face o călătorie cu vaporaşul la insula Ven: . Este un loc frumos cu nişte privelişti fantastice, şi doresc să mă întorc acolo în curând.

Stockholm, Sweden

Many times I heard people saying that Stockholm is wonderful, but I never thougth that it will be so beautiful. Especially if you visit the city with good friends and you are lucky enough to have sun on your side: Stockholm Sigthseing. The next day we have visited the museums: first the Vasa museum Stockholm Vasa, then we visited the Aquaria musem Stockholm Aquaria, and we finished the day with a view from the top of the television tower (155m)Stockholm Kaknastornet. The last day was reserved for a new view from the top of the city hall tower Stockholm City Hall, and a boat trip to a island were we could see the residence of royal family Stockholm Boat Trip .

De multe ori am auzit oamenii spunând că Stockholm este minunat, dar nu am crezut că poate fi aşa de frumos. În special dacă vizitezi oraşul cu prieteni buni şi eşti destul de norocos sa ai soarele de partea ta: StockholmSigthseing.  Ziua următoare am vizitat muzeele: prima oară muzeul Vasa Stockholm Vasa, apoi am vizitat muzeul Acquaria Stockholm Aquaria şi am terminat ziua cu o vedere din vârful turnului televiziunii(155m) Stockholm Kaknastornet. Ultima zi a fost rezervată pentru o privelişte nouă din vârful primăriei Stockholm City Hall şi o plimbare cu vaporaşul la o insulă unde am putut vedea rezidenţa familiei regale Stockholm Boat Trip.

Lyon, France

Some time ago I visited my sister in Lyon and had the oportunity to visit the city. I think is a charming city, with great landscapes. Because I usually get lost in a new city I managed to see some things that no other tourist can see: Lyon. When I was there I visited also the medieval city of Perouges: Perouges. I also had the oportunity to see the aquarium:Lyon Aquarium.
Cu ceva timp în urmă mi-am vizitat sora în Lyon şi am avut ocazia sa vizitez oraşul. Cred că e un oraş fermecător, cu privelişti fantastice. Din cauză că  de obicei mă rătăcesc într-un oraş nou am reuşit să văd citeva lucruri noi pe care turiştii nu le văd de obicei: Lyon. Când am fost acolo am vizitat de asemenea oraşul medieval Perouges: Perouges. De asemenea am avut ocazia să văd acvariul: Lyon Aquarium.

Egypt

Egypt, land of the pharaons and pyramids. I was dreaming of visiting this place since long time. Today, as before it is a place of contrasts, where the very rich and the very poor live just few steps away from each other. You can notice this in some of the pictures made in Cairo: Cairo. I was in Cairo for 2 days, visiting the alabaster mosque, the pyramids and the sphynx. In the first evening I have seen the light show: light show. Next trip taken was in Luxor, where I visited the temple of Karnak and an island with a banans plantation on the great river Nile, along with a short visit to the Valley of the Queens: Luxor. Next on the list was a safary in the desert, where I had to drive a quad. It was great fun: Safary. The rest of the time I was in the home base of Hurghada: Hurghada, from where I was going to the beach for snorkeling, and later on for diving: Diving. I enjoyed this so much that I made a course for a diver's licence. I had as well some movies filmed underwater, at this adresses: diving 1, diving 2, diving 3.



Egipt, tărâm al faraonilor şi piramidelor. Am visat să vizitez acest loc de când eram copil. Astăzi, ca şi înainte este un loc al contrastelor, unde cei foarte bogaţi şi cei foarte săraci locuiesc la doar câţiva paşi unul de altul. Se pot vedea aceste aspecte în câteva poze pe care le-am facut în Cairo: Cairo. Am fost in Cairo timp de 2 zile, vizitând Moschea de alabastru, piramidele şi Sfinxul. În prima seară am văzut spectacolul de lumini la piramide: spectacol cu lumini la piramide. Următoarea excursie a fost în Luxor, unde am vizitat templul din Karnaksi o insulă cu plantaţie de banane pe marele fluviu Nil, impreună cu o vizită în Valea Reginelor: Luxor. Următorul pe lista a fost un safary în deşert, unde a trebuit să conduc o motocicletă cu 4 roţi. A fost distractiv: Safary. Restul timpului am fost în Hurghada: Hurghada, de unde am mers la plajă pentru înot cu mască şi tub de respirat, şi mai târziu pentru scufundari: scufundari. Mi-a plăcut aşa de mult că am facut un curs pentru o licenţă de scafandru. Am de asemenea câteva filme filmate sub apă, la următoarele adrese: scufundari 1, scufundari 2, scufundari 3.

Karlsruhe and Ettlingen, Germany

My first visit to Bruker for a course in NMR helped me to visit Karlruhe and his smaller satellite Ettlingen: Karlsruhe and Ettlingen.
Prima mea vizită la Bruker pentru un curs de RMN m-a ajutat să vizitez Karlsruhe şi suburbia sa Ettlingen: Karlsruhe and Ettlingen.

Paring Mountains, Romania

Summer of 2007 i came back to Romania for a short vacation. I had time to make a trip to Paring mountains with my family. Here are the pictures from the mountains: Paring Mountains.
În vara lui 2007 m-am intors în Romania pentru o scurtă vacanţă. Am avut timp să fac o scurta călătorie în munţii Parâng, cu familia mea. Aici sunt pozele din munţi: Paring Mountains.

Göteborg museum, Sweden

       In April 2007  I visited Göteborg, together with some friends. One of the nice places visited was the biological museum: Biology Museum Goteborg.

  In aprilie 2007  am vizitat Göteborg, impreuna cu niste prieteni. Unul din cele mai faine locuri vizitate a fost muzeul de biologie: Biology Museum Goteborg.

Germany trip, Germany

Last year in October, I was in Germany for a course. Anyway I was just taking the opportunity to make a few short trips after the course was finished. So I went to the Black forest for few days. My first stop was in Donaueschingen, the origin of Danube:  Donaueschingen. After this I went to Titisee where I made some hiking in the woods: Titisee Black Forest. The next stop was in Baden Baden, where I made a short walk in the city. I was not very impressed maybe because I had higher expectations, for this city: Baden Baden. The last stop from this trip was in Frankfurt: Frankfurt. It is an amazing city in itself, but my favorite part was the botanical garden: Frankfurt Botanical Garden.
Anul trecut am fost în Germania pentru un curs de perfecţionare. După ce cursul a luat sfârşit am profitat de ocazie ca sa fac cateva mici excursii. Prima oprire a fost în Donaueschingen, la izvoarele Dunării:  Donaueschingen. După aceea am vizitat Titisee unde am făcut câteva drumeţii în pădure: Titisee Black Forest. Următoarea oprire a fost în Baden Baden, unde am făcut o plimbare prin oras. Nu am fost foarte impresionat, pentru că aveam aşteptări mai mari de la acest oraş: Baden Baden. Ultima oprire a fost în Frankfurt: Frankfurt. Este un oraş fantastic, dar partea care mi-a plăcut în mod deosebit a fost grădina botanică: Frankfurt Botanical Garden.

I like to make photo's of landscapes, but i think it is more interesing to make photo's of animals in their natural habitat. Here are few examples: Animals.
Îmi place să fotografiez peisaje, dar cred că e mai interesant să fac poze de animale în mediul lor natural. Aici puteti gasi câteva exemple: Animals.

Birds photos

I like birds. The birds have grace, freedom and more important, birds can fly... A bird flying it's the most common think in the world, but really it is remarkable how many adaptation the nature had to accomplish in order to give the birds this unique gift. I like to watch the free birds, because I think a caged bird is the most sad thing in the world: Birds.

Îmi plac păsările. Păsările au graţie, libertate şi mai important, păsările pot zbura... O pasăre zburând e cel mai comun lucru din lume, dar este ramarcabil cât de multe adaptări a făcut natura pentru a da pasărilor acest dar unic. Îmi place să urmăresc păsările în libertate, pentru că eu cred că o pasăre în colivie e cel mai trist lucru din lume:  Birds.
